Saying goodbye…

Saying goodbye is one of the most difficult things to do, I personally think. Especially when you don’t have a choice in the matter. When you wake up one morning and they are just not there anymore… Not anywhere. Not answering a phone call, or a whatsapp, an email… with all our fancy technology today, once a person has moved on, there is no way of getting hold of them again.

And left, is us souls of the departed, silently yearning for one more day, one more hour, one more…. just one more…

It is hard, very hard, harder than I ever thought possible.

We all expect time to pass on in some way – as elderly family members pass and others get more sickly you become acutely aware of the fragility of time. How quickly things can change.

You are however still frozen in shock at the news, how expected or unexpected it may be, nothing prepares you for that call.

While it is a normal part of life, it gives us a clarity, amidst confusion and the pain we all face at one or other time. So we prepare our souls, clinks in our armour, struggling, reeling, taking one step after another… Forward.
